A suppository is a dosage form used to deliver medications by insertion into a body cavity/orifice where it melts or dissolves to exert local or systemic effects. Suppositories are ideal for infants, elderly individuals and post-operative patients, who are unable to swallow oral medications. Blister packs of suppositories can be made of 2 ply laminates having Aluminium Foil & PE or PVC & PE as two substrates. In both the cases, there is a top and bottom foil and sealing occurs with the PE side. There are two types of required opening convenience namely by tearability or by peelability.
